The three authors apply theoretical and methodological approaches from sociology, history, and cultural studies to examine the cultural phenomenon of the North American honeymoon ritual. They look at its origins, historical changes as expressed in cultural narratives, advertising, symbolic meanings of contemporary sites, and the pre- honeymoon expectations and post-honeymoon realities of a sample of newlyweds.
