These are the words that echo through the minds of all immune Americans-those suffering the so-called adverse effects of an experimental vaccine, including perfect recall, telepathy, precognition, levitation, mind control, and the ability to change one's appearance at will.

When great numbers of immune individuals begin to disappear, fear and tension mount, and unrest begins to brew across the country. Through separate channels, superpowered teenagers Ciere, Daniel, and Devon find themselves on the case: super criminals and government agents working side by side. It's an effort that will ultimately define them all, for better or for worse.

Pairing high-stakes action with a compelling cast of superhuman characters, Emily Lloyd-Jones's thrilling sequel to Illusive will have readers on the edge of their seats.

Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
Ciere, Alan, Devon and Daniel all have superhuman abilities. Ciere can make things vanish from view, even though they are physically still there. She’s called an Illusive. Alan is an Eidos, who has a perfect memory, including the formula that changed America. Devon and Daniel are differently special, but it’s hard to keep everyone straight and figure what their agendas are. Unfortunately, this second volume in the “Illusive” series does not have enough coherent back-story for the reader to understand what the whole set is about. Why are the people with special powers considered outcasts and why were they vaccinated in the first place? Is it only the United States that’s having this problem? There is a lot of well-written action in the book, but no real sense of who the main characters are and what they feel. The other characters in the book are also not clearly drawn, making it confusing to figure who are the bad guys and who are the good guys. Perhaps everybody is good and bad. It is possible there is going to be a third novel in the series, but that may not matter. Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan; Ages 14 up.
