I'll make a confession to you. Although I love sci-fi more than any other genre on the face of the earth, I have trouble watching many of the latest sci-fi movies made for TV or the theaters.

That's because most of them are based on special effects and action instead of strong stories plots. This is not surprising considering I was weaned on the classic Sci-fi of the 20th century, which reached its apex in the 1950s and 1960s.
And although I was born at the tail end of that golden era that spawned "I, Robot," "Who Goes There" and Richard Matheson's horror-sci-fi classic "I am Legend," I have made it my business to dig up and read the well-known as well as the most obscure gems of vintage hardcore science fiction!

To that end, I have hunted down these 5 gems – and thrown in a bonus story – for you to savor in this 250-page beautifully illustrated volume. They were selected with the hardcore fan in mind, who is sure to appreciate such stories as "Cry from a Far Planet," which leads with "Trust no alien being under any circumstances," motto, or what hardcore fan wouldn't love "Mercenary," which is a visionary piece written long ago that rings so true today!

In the back of this exclusively made for Kindle edition, you also will find titles to more compilations of great vintage sci-fi I have published that can be found in the Kindle store. – Chet Dembeck
