Children's Literature
Everyone is familiar with the classic Disney version of Bambi. This edition of the story is very similar to former editions, but there seems to be more detailed descriptions, including colorful metaphors to describe the forest and the seasons. The story covers a year in the life of a young deer. The story introduces young children to important concepts such as the cycle of life, childhood innocence and grown-up responsibility. Bambi's adventures with close friends Thumper, the rabbit, and Flower, the skunk, are very entertaining. The death of Bambi's mother is handled quietly and matter-of-factly in the story. Bambi completes the cycle of life by becoming the new great Prince of the Forest. This timeless story, illustrated by the Walt Disney Studio, will entertain this generation of children, just as the story entertained their parents' generation. 2004, Golden Books, Ages 4 to 10.
