Ease little ones into the get-ready-for-bed routine with this warm and cozy bedtime book. Aided by Mom and Dad, a sister and brother enjoy a little snack, relaxing baths, time for brushing teeth, stories, lullabies, back rubs, and hugs. Cheerful, soft illustrations and reassuring text set a tone that helps toddlers feel good about settling down to sleep. (As the narrator explains, “I do my best growing when I’m sleeping.”) In the morning, the children will yawn, stretch, and be a little bit bigger, a little bit stronger, and a little bit smarter—all because of a good night’s sleep. Includes tips for parents and caregivers.

    Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
It might be wise for a parent or caregiver to read the last spread containing bedtime tips before sharing the book with a child. Very good and useful information sets this book apart from the usual bedtime books. The last couple of items may be among the most helpful—stay patient and be firm no matter how much your toddler may whine or put up a fight about going to bed. Never give into repeated requests, and encourage self-soothing by the young child. Toddlers see the routine established by this family—a little snack, bath, getting into comfortable nightwear, brushing one's teeth, reading a story and reminding little ones that they do their best growing while they are sleeping. The illustrations are not polished, but have plenty of appeal particularly when showing the details of life in this particular family. The books in the "Toddler Tools" series depict children and families representing a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
