A young Southern lady must strike out on her own as the life she knows is torn apart—first by the horrific acts of a stranger, and then more completely by the cruel realities of America's Civil War. On her mission to avenge a terrible wrong she disguises herself as a Confederate soldier and joins the battle, and during her journey she learns that truth—and love—can be found in unexpected places.
