Two “Dad what are you making now,” editions in one book.
Rain Barrel Edition:
Other rain barrel plans have a male-threaded spigot being twisted into the barrel's plastic side. A weak way to do it which will leak and eventually work itself loose. I show how to install an all metal spigot.
My plans are an original design made after several trials and hours in a box-store looking over various parts with the idea of making the best set of plans available.
*Even with a closed top barrel an all metal spigot can be installed.
*Don't want a Big Blue drum on the side of your house? These plans explain how to paint the barrel to match your landscaping and home.
*These plans also are built to match up with a multi-barrel system for even more water storage.
Dad what are you making now: the Rain Barrel edition, is an instruction manual for creating a rain cistern out of a 55-gallon food grade plastic barrel and basic parts available at most box hardware stores. Specific instructions are provided for installing a solid brass spigot even on a barrel with a non-removable top.
Great idea for the home, a garage business and community projects, as well as for the Emergency Situation minded person.
There are so many reasons to want to have at least one rain barrel near the house. One is that if for some reason the water main is not working, still need to flush toilets. Wash Cars, water gardens for just a couple reasons.
These plans can also be used as a garage business start up. All the parts are common plumbing pieces and barrels are available across the country, usually for low cost. Compared to the $90+ dollars needed to buy one premade in China at the box stores, depending on how much the barrel cost a complete Rain Barrel can be from $15-$30 approx.
And the Raised Bed Garden Edition:
Plans on building raised bed gardens in square, rectangular and triangles. As well as bonus plans on how to convert a 5-gallon bucket into a water collecting drip irrigation system.
Many pictures and drawings to get the family raising fresh vegetables and fruits in a better controlled and maintained raised bed garden.
