Hugh Stokes (1875-1932) was a biographer and art historian. His works include A Prince of Pleasure: Philip of France and His Court, 1640-1701; A Month at Gastein; The Art Treasures of London: Painting; Madame De Brinvilliers and Her Times: 1630-1676; President Wilson; Sir Anthony Van Dyck; Belgium; and studies of Thomas Gainsborough, Benozzo Gozzoli, and Francisco Goya.
