Gr 4–6—In E.D. Baker's follow-up (2009) to The Dragon Princess (2008, both Bloomsbury), Millie is gone and Audun is a lovesick teenage dragon who can't bear to be separated from his new love. He searches for Millie without the blessing of his family because Millie is a human who can turn into a dragon. Audun seeks help from the Dragon King to learn how to change form into a human so he can be with Millie. Before granting Audun's request, the Dragon King sends him on incredible quests to test his resolve and bravery. When Audun succeeds and convinces the Dragon King and his grandmother of his true love for Millie, he is taught how to transform into a human. This skill becomes helpful when he helps the Dragon King fight for the future of all dragons. When Audun finally meets up with Millie months later, the reunion is rocky until misunderstandings are revealed and Audun once again wins Millie's heart. Narrator Katherine Kellgren gives voice to all the characters with energy that helps listeners visualize the story and understand the characters. For young dragon aficionados and fans of adventure stories.—Teresa Wittmann, Westgate Elementary School, Edmonds, WA
