All Movie Guide
Wreck-It Ralph is back, tearing his way onto the big screen in his sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet. And while many smash hits spawn sequels that are a bust, this one breaks that mold in so many good ways. Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) have spent the last six years as best friends, but his attempts to make Sugar Rush more enjoyable for her end up with the game broken and on the verge of being scrapped. In order to save it, they must brave a computer world larger than that of their games... the Internet. Along the way, the results of their actions test their friendship, putting them both in dangerous situations. There are a lot of things to like about this film, starting with the screenplay from Phil Johnston and Pamela Ribon. They keep the characters true to the first film, while introducing new and interesting ones in Shank (Gal Gadot) and Yesss (Taraji P. Henson). The story keeps a good pace as well, with only a few slower moments. There are a lot of funny bits, mostly involving the operations and frustrations that are the Internet. All the main actors, and many of the smaller ones, give performances that are just cartoonish enough to match the script and characters they are playing. Reilly and Silverman excel, even beyond their performances in the first film. A special treat is all the original voice actresses for every modern Disney princess returning briefly to their roles. The animation is virtually flawless and easy to follow. The lip movements and facial expressions match well, and the action scenes are spectacular without being overwhelming. The final villain's movement and design are stunning. Add to this a near-perfect new princess song from Disney veteran Alan Menken and you have a film that is worth seeing by the entire family. Ralph Breaks the Internet is entertaining, fun, and in places poignant for its tongue-in-cheek take on the Internet - a delightful new entry into Disney's collection of films. It strives to succeed at entertaining attendees of any age, and manages to succeed on every level.Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
