    A mom, a dad, a baby...and another dad.

Laurie and Alan are expecting, again. After two miscarriages, Laurie was afraid they'd never be able to have a child. Now she's cautiously optimistic — the fertility treatment worked, and things seem to be different this time around. But she doesn't yet know how different.

Jack can't seem to catch a break — his parents are on his case about graduating from college, he's somehow dating two girls at once, and he has to find a way to pay back the money he borrowed from his fraternity's party fund. The only jobs he is qualified for barely pay enough to keep him in beer money, but an ad for the local sperm bank gives Jack an idea.

Laurie and Alan's joy is shattered when their doctor reveals that Laurie was accidentally impregnated by sperm from a donor rather than her husband. Who is Donor 296. And how will their family change now that Donor 296 is inarguably part of it?

"Every once in a while that truly special book comes along that you just cannot put down, that you just cannot stop thinking about. That's Expecting. At once hysterical and heartbreaking, sweet and wise, Ann Hamilton's breakout debut is simply brilliant. With expertly drawn characters, complex and authentic as our closest friends, Expecting is an unexpected joy — a beautiful ode to relationships and love and all the things that really matter, rendered by a master storyteller. Book clubs grab this now!" - Jeffrey Stepakoff, bestselling author of Fireworks Over Toccoa

"A charming, big-hearted novel, Expecting is an exuberant celebration of contemporary families in all their insane, messy beauty." - Jillian Medoff, bestselling author of I Couldn't Love You More and Hunger Point

"Ripe with conflict and controversy, Expecting is a perfect book club pick. Ann Lewis Hamilton takes a serious subject matter-infertility-and layers it with havoc, heart, and humor. Expecting will lure you in with its fresh premise and sharply drawn characters. A remarkable debut, Expecting is a beautiful reminder of the resilience of love and the elasticity of family ties." - Lori Nelson Spielman, author of The Life List

"Told from the three unique perspectives, each wrought with confused emotion, this novel brings heart and complexity to a seemingly humorous topic" - RT Book Reviews

I enjoyed Expecting, I found it to be both an entertaining and surprisingly thought provoking novel with an interesting perspective on an unusual issue. Ann Lewis Hamilton is a debut author with promise.

I was totally wrapped up in the end waiting for this baby to be born! Expecting definitely made me think more than I expected (ha!) to about this kind of situation. 4 stars!

What can I say about this story? Real, heartfelt, poignant.... The author delves into issues like fertility and miscarriages but walks a very fine line of keeping it all raw but at the same time, not overwhelming to the reader.

EXPECTING will stay with you long after you read the final page. All of the characters feel very real and after a few chapters they will feel like friends you have known for years. There are pages where I laughed and cried at the same time.

""A sweet—albeit twisted—little novel about modern technology going awry with heartbreaking consequences... Hamilton excels at taking a heavy subject and spinning it into a humorous, descriptive, engaging read."" - Shelf Awareness for Readers

What happens in the pages between this book is interesting and truly a page turner. It's nice to see the author add a bit of humor to a very difficult topic. Let's face it... isn't laughter the best medicine?

Ann Lewis Hamilton's Expecting is a great read that manages to tackle heavy issues like fertility problems and a sperm donor mix-up with both grace and humor.

Don't miss out on this amazing story that tells of a journey between three adults and one baby and how they overcome great odds and find happiness.
