This comic-like book keeps readers engaged partly by Melvin addressing the reader. The illustrations complement the text and share the same pages, which helps to hold the reader's attention. There is much comedy in Melvin's superhero powers as well as a prominent positive message. Although it always takes him four or five tries to fly, it does not trouble him.
