Margaret Sidney was the pseudonym of American author Harriett Mulford Stone Lothrop She published nothing until 1878, at the age of 34, when she began sending short stories to Wide Awake, a children's magazine in Boston. Two of her stories, “Polly Pepper's Chicken Pie” and “Phronsie Pepper's New Shoes,” proved to be very popular with readers. Daniel Lothrop, the editor of the magazine, requested that Stone write more. The success of Harriett's short stories prompted her to write the now-famous “Five Little Peppers” series.

The 4th book in the “Five Little Peppers” series. This book focuses mainly on the adventures of Davie Pepper. Davie wants to be helper to Mother Pepper and is willing to do whatever he can to lend a hand. This book shows his courage and his compassionate heart. A charming look at things from Davies perspective during the time the Pepper family lived in “The Little Brown House”.
I hope you enjoy this book. When I first started reading books on my Nook Library I noticed that there are many free classics available. However the formatting is terrible and some are unreadable because of errors in the text. Therefore, I decided to start publishing quality classics that included chapter breaks, table of contents, linked chapters, and illustrations when available. Keep your eye out for inspirational stories from us, EirenikosPress.
