K-Gr 4-- An excellent presentation of introductory material about water. Addressing readers in the second-person ``you,'' it clearly explains such terms as ``brook,'' ``stream,'' ``river,'' and ``delta,'' and illustrates such basic concepts as where water comes from, how it travels, and where it goes. The illustrations are simple, almost childlike, in soft colors. In a few cases, however, it is difficult to distinguish between water and land because the contrast in tone is subtle; otherwise, the artwork is pleasant and effective. Comparable titles include From Ice to Rain (Carolrhoda, 1981) by Marlene Reidel and Diane Tippell's Water (Silver Burdett, 1986). --Rosie Peasley, Somerset School, Modesto, CA
