In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room--to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one--he says goodnight.

In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.

    Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
After fifty years, this story is still going strong and it's now available in a board book edition. It is a soothing bedtime story that parents can now read to their very young ones. All of the elements are there, alternating black and white and full color spreads and the little mouse who appears in each colorful scene.
    Children's Literature - Joan Kindig
Narrated by Allison Karman, Signed by Missy Keast Good Night Moon is a classic story that is a part of the bedtime ritual of countless children around the world. Until now, however, hearing impaired children could only look at the pictures unless someone was available to sign the story to them. This sign language version allows hearing impaired children to "read" along with the interpreter and enjoy the book on a whole different level. The story is read aloud by a narrator with an interpreter signing in the forefront. The backdrop shows pages from the book with the text visible to allow children to read along. For the hearing impaired, it is a chance to put the signs with the words; while hearing children have the opportunity to put the words with the signs. Children with hearing problems will be able to share sign language with their peers through a book that is familiar to everyone. The Vocabulary area offers twenty words that, when clicked on, show the interpreter signing that word. What a great introduction to sign language for the entire class! Further activities for the classroom are available online. Running time: Approx. 18 min. Iconographic. Reviewer: Joan Kindig, Ph.D.
