Kim Carrington has two published novels to her credit. Her debut novel, A Special Place, was released September 1st. 2004. The sequel, which is titled, Desert Star was released on December 28th. 2005. Aside from working on her third novel, she is currently a contributing writer for Black Bride and Groom Magazine. Though writing is Kim's passion, she continues her studies at Florida State College at Jacksonville and hopes to obtain a degree in English. Kim is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but has made Jacksonville, Florida her home for the past 15 years. She lives there with her two children, Nia and Marc and Dutchess, their furry family member.

I chose the title, In The Sand, for my short story because it represents the passion of romantic love. When two people are in love, there is a warmth for one another that consumes them and, what better place for that heat to manifest itself than on a beautiful, hot, sandy beach with the warm waters of ocean waves near by. In The Sand, gets its title from my first trip to Key West, Florida; which is where I met my husband and also, the place he took me for our first date.
