More antics ensue at Cacklefur Castle, Creepella von Cacklefur's family estate in Gloomeria. This time, her pet moat monster Gorgo is in love with Blobbina, the pink slime movie star, and he cannot eat anything in his lovesick state. Creepella sets her journalism aside to pen a love letter for Gorgo, but when her bat Bitewing goes to deliver it in Horrorwood, he discovers Blobbina has gone missing. Following clues from Mr. M, monster expert, Creepella and friend Billy Squeakspeare track down Blobbina and rescue her from the danger awaiting her. Billy Squeakspeare does have a little adventure of his own in the form of a dinner at a nearby mansion, but it does more to digress from the plot than to move it forward. The comic style illustrations and blended font faces that match the meaning of words make this book very attractive for young readers. While the horror movie type characters might be scary for sensitive readers, the plot is rather mild and suitable for children with a sense of adventure. Reviewer: Amanda Ledbetter
