Omar Khayyam (1048–1122) was a mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher from Iran. During his lifetime he was known for his Treatise on Demonstration of Problems of Algebra. More recently, he has been referenced by Martin Luther King, Jr., Salman Rushdie, Jack London, and Charlie Parker.
