Linda is a young, hardworking single mom struggling to get by from paycheck to paycheck. When she learns that her son Dre needs a kidney transplant, her family's already precarious financial situation takes a turn for the worst. Something Noble is about hope, loss, and doing the right thing. It is one woman's journey to fight for her son's life, which will strike a chord with any reader who enjoys family drama with a bit of an edge. Linda was a teenage mother, and now that her son is in high school, she is faced with disheartening news: Dre has been diagnosed with kidney failure and needs a donor. The only problem is that she is not a match to his unique blood type. The only match is his biological father, but he has been incarcerated for some time and cannot be a donor due to his habitual drug use. Surprisingly enough, Linda discovers that Dre has a half-brother with the correct blood type for a donor kidney. Linda is able to reach out to Levon, and the two brothers discover in a short time the meaning of nobility. The author details a gripping tale about a mother's love and a selfless act of one brother for another despite a short-lived relationship between them. An emotional roller coaster, the story should be ridden by all readers. Selfless acts are basic to being human, and this is depicted in Levon's gift, along with, perhaps, even redemption for his past acts. In the time when the gap between parents and teenagers can seem far, this book can certainly bridge it. This is a book to read. Reviewer: Mirta Espinola
