Amy Wall graduated from Harvey Mudd College of Science and Engineering with a B.S. in Chemistry, a second major in Economics, and a minor in English Literature. She also has a Masters of Business Administration degree. Her lifelong interest in spirituality led her to the Western Mystery Tradition, Judaism, mystic Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and a certificate in transpersonal psychology. After experiencing an awakening with a Zen Buddhist master, she began to seek a deeper understanding of how the Western Mystery Tradition can lead to higher levels of spiritual awareness. This book is a result of that search.

THIS BOOK WON THE 2011 ARIZONA BOOK PUBLISHERS AWARD FOR RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY. The Tarot of Awakening explores the use of the Rider-Waite Tarot cards as a map of the journey to higher consciousness. With a deft and scholarly hand, the author addresses the practical realities of the spiritual journey: its emotional subtleties, triumphs, pitfalls and paradoxes. In a wholly new and ground-breaking approach, the four suits of the Minor Arcana are interpreted as the spiritual paths of Service (pentacles), Devotion (cups), Knowledge (swords) and Mysticism (wands); the Court Cards are aspects of our own personalities that help and hinder us on our journey. Meditations on the Major Arcana are provided to lead readers into a deeper awareness of their own being. This book offers clear, unique and insightful guidance for spiritual aspirants.

I agree that the content is that of a well-researched first-class text book. It's a teaching tool, especially if you're looking to go deep. I'm certain it will be many years before I'm able to digest all its content. The colorful descriptions regarding the symbols could be a lifetime study alone. What I'm enjoying and benefiting from most of all are the meditations that are hand carrying me into dimensions of spiritual insight that are riveting. I'd say this is a must read for serious students.

Amy Wall has outdone herself in this book that allows the unititiated to experience Tarot in a new way. This book is elegant spirituality for Everyman/Everywoman. Having the Kabbalah system blended with the Tarot Mysteries is so much fun! I look forward to much much more from Amy Wall.

This is a great book for several reasons. Chief among them is the author's revolutionary approach to Tarot, the idea that the Rider-Waite deck can be used as a means for discovering, understanding, and furthering one's spiritual journey toward enlightenment. No other Tarot book I've read has ever demonstrated such an excellent understanding of the real complexities inherent in spiritual discovery, nor shown how naturally and easily the Rider-Waite deck can be used for this purpose.

This is by far the best and most informative Tarot book I have ever read. It's like all the lost and real esoteric meanings of the cards have finally been found. Even for people not interested in the Tarot, this book has the ability to not only enlighten but give much food for thought. The most indepth definitions of cards I've encountered the author extending a warmth and understanding towards the reader with a generosity of spirit.

I was very impressed with how the author took very broad concepts and broke them down to concrete, applicable ideas. She then wove these ideas together seamlessly, so that the reader was able to easily cross-reference and understand each card on a multitude of levels. In doing this, she made the vast amount of information contained in this book completely accessible and entertaining. I will be referring back to this book many times in the future.
