Created by the editors of DK Publishing (Small Space Garden Ideas; Garden Vegetables), this title is a delight for the senses with its beautiful, thick paper and page after page of color photos. The book is organized from spring through winter with each plant assigned to its appropriate season. The beginning pages of each season offer tips on tasks to be done as well as information about day length, weather, and plant science. Flowers, shrubs, trees, and vegetables: all of the gardening favorites are covered. From daffodils to dahlias, carrots to corn, and magnolias to maples, there is advice on the types of variety to select and some general growing tips. Though it's pleasurable to browse, this is not a how-to gardening book, and it fails to note hardiness zones, an omission that is sure to crush the hearts of gardeners who discover that those spectacular camellias will never survive a cold, snowy winter. VERDICT This is a great book for daydreaming over. Experienced gardeners may take away a few new ideas.—Stefanie Hollmichel, Univ. of St. Thomas Law Lib., Minneapolis
