Dallas McCord "Mack" Reynolds (1917-1983) was a prolific and popular science fiction and mystery writer of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. He wrote under a number of pen names including Dallas Ross, Mark Mallory, Clark Collins, Dallas Rose, Guy McCord, Maxine Reynolds, Bob Belmont, and Todd Harding. Raised in Maryland, Reynolds' father was an ardent socialist, a worldview he passed along to his son. Mack Reynolds joined the Socialist Labor Party while in High School, and remained a dedicated socialist throughout his life. He worked briefly as a reporter in in the 1930s, and after service in World War II, became an organizer for the Socialist Labor Party in 1946. He began publishing fiction in the late 1940s, first primarily detective stories, but switched to science fiction in the 1950s at the urging of his friend and prolific scifi writer Fredric Brown. He spent much of the next few decades traveling abroad and living in Mexico, where he died in 1983.

THE MACK REYNOLDS MEGA SCIENCE FICTION COLLECTION includes more than twenty novels and short stories by popular scifi writer Dallas McCord "Mack" Reynolds. This collection includes works from his 'North Africa,' 'Joe Mauser,' and 'United Planets series,' as well as many stand-alone stories. Reynolds often set his works in utopian or distopian societies threatened with revolution, where Esperanto is often used as a universal language (in a similar vein to the works of Harry Harrison). Reynolds' stories were a staple of the pulps of the postwar era, and his novella STATUS QUO was a Hugo nominee in 1961.
