Overview

The 15th Anniversary edition of the publication in English of the work that more than any other has formed and directed the worldwide discussion of liberation theology.

In addition to re-editing for inclusive language, Fr. Gutierrez himself revised a key section of his masterwork, and added a new essay that reviews the evolution of liberation theology, delineating key themes of the present and future. As he writes in this new essay, "My book is a love letter to God, to the church and to the people to which I belong. Love remains alive, but grows deeper and changes its manner of expression."

What Time magazine has called a "seminal" work, A Theology of Liberation remains the single most lucid, direct and powerful statement of the heart of liberation theology.
