Roseanna Arquette stars in Baby It's You as a scholarly but unworldly Jewish high school girl of the 1960s. She is awakened sexually by the school's hardcase, Vincent Spano. He is expelled from school, while Roseanna benefits from the brief liaison. Like many John Sayles films, Baby It's You has the feel of a group effort, with a strong cast of young ensemble players (including Tracy Pollan, Fisher Stevens and Robert Downey Jr.) and the labor-of-love participation of actor Griffin Dunne as the film's producer. Coproducer Amy Robinson wrote what appears to be the intensely autobiographical screenplay. Watch for Matthew Modine in his screen debut as "Steve".
