The reader will learn the definition of a sea otter, what the mammal likes to eat, where the mammal lives, what the mammal likes to do. This book has information about the different parts of sea otters and how they stay clean. There are many text features including a table of contents, subheadings, page numbers, labels, definitions, photographs, captions and a picture glossary. The text features make this a great informational resource for young readers to use in the classroom. The book could be used for guided reading in a first or second grade classroom as well. Young children just learning to read and those who can read independently will enjoy looking at the real life photographs and learning about sea otters.
