Instead of running away, newly named Sniffer forges a playful friendship with Tinni. The pair form a lasting bond as they chase squirrels, examine hollow tree stumps, fight over sticks, and wrestle in the forest. Sniffer gets bigger and becomes more independent by the conclusion of the story, but he never forgets his buddy Tinni. A clean layout and straightforward text allow the phenomenal photographs to take the spotlight. The Norwegian forest looks lush and verdant in the summer—and frosty and cool in the winter. Even the colors of the dog's coat perfectly complement the rusty red orange of the fox. The action shots, such as when Sniffer leaps through the air to pounce on Tinni, transport readers right to the scene.
