Jo Goodman is a licensed professional counselor working with children and families in West Virginia’s northern panhandle. Always a fan of happily ever after, Jo turned to writing romances early in her career as a child care worker when she realized the only life script she could control was the one she wrote herself. She is inspired by the resiliency and courage of the children she meets and feels privileged to be trusted with their stories, the ones that they alone have the right to tell. Once upon a time, Jo believed she was going to be a marine biologist. She feels lucky that seasickness made her change course.

What People are Saying About This

    From the Publisher

    Praise for THE LAST RENEGADE:
"Fans of western romance will be thrilled with this delightful addition to Goodman's strong list." —Booklist

"Simmering sexual tension, exceptional character development, and slowly revealed secrets make this a book to savor."—Library Journal

"Humor and drama...a complicated, fast-paced, and deliciously believable story of love, sex, and secrets." —Publishers Weekly

The Last Renegade plays out like the best classic western movies. Tension builds steadily as the pages turn, with author Jo Goodman teasingly offering up tidbits that round out the characters and plot as the story winds towards a good old-fashioned western conclusion. Goodman uses beautifully evocative language to set the scene, and her use of physical descriptors and dialogue paint portraits of the characters right down to “cheeks apple red with windburn and excitement.” The Last Renegade …is exceptional across the board, a sheer delight.” –Reader to Reader

"*sigh* This author remains one of my absolute favorites. She can write the hell out of a book. I read her work and feel like she values my intelligence as a reader." —Fiction Vixen

"Jo Goodman is a master storyteller and one of the reasons I love historical romance so much....The Last Renegade is an outstanding historical western ...Even if American historicals aren’t your cup of tea, Goodman’s writing is brilliant enough to convince you otherwise. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!" —The Romance Dish

Goodman (Kissing Comfort) strikes a balance between tight plotting and solid character development in this romance set in 1888 Wyoming. Kellen Coltrane encounters a fatally wounded stranger, Nat Church, on a train, and agrees to convey his dying words to Pennyroyal in Bitter Springs, Wyo. At the Pennyroyal Hotel and Saloon, owner Raine Berry awaits the hired gun she’s employed to take on the Burdicks, a father and three sons who own half the town and have killed many people in the area. Kellen delivers Nat’s message and decides to stay until he discovers Nat’s murderer. When Kellen meets independent, redheaded Raine, sparks fly. Multidimensional villains and heroes add humor and drama to a complicated, fast-paced, and deliciously believable story of love, sex, and secrets. Agent: Pam Hopkins, Hopkins Literary Associates.
